                            Max Salazar

Max Salazar

"Max Salazar was born in New York City and is of Puerto Rican descent. He began his journalistic career with the original "Latin New York" magazine in 1968. He's written articles on Latin music history, biographies, and concert and record reviews for several magazines and newspapers. He's also hosted the "Latin Musicians Show" for WBAI and WKCR in New York City."

The following archive is a set of articles and reviews that has been compiled by the Latin Jazz Society, with the permission of Max Salazar, to present to the public, some of the well known and not so well known artifacts of Latin Jazz and Salsa music history.

Over the past fifty years, Max Salazar has emerged as probably one of the foremost authorities in the musicology and study of the Latin jazz style of music.   As the author of his many articles which have appeared and been published in many periodicals throughout the nation and world, it is our hope that we can present some concise adaptations of his most lucid writings, on some of the main figures that have helped to build the Latin Jazz mosaic.
