GARY BURTON's
"Generations" Featuring:JULIAN LAGE
Gary Burton is the most recognizable contemporary voice on the vibraphone. Not only did he develop that instrument’s now ubiquitous four-mallet technique but he also lead bands in the 1970’s that introduced scores of young musicians, including guitarist Pat Metheny, to the world. After over 30 years as a professor and dean at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Burton recently retired from education to return to performing full time, mentoring young musicians through his “Generations” band, and hosting a weekly radio show on the Sirius Satellite network. This engagement, featuring wunderkind guitarist Julian Lage, will celebrate the new Concord Records CD, “Next Generation.”
