Yosvany Terry and Luis Perdomo Born into a musical family, saxophonist Yosvany Terry grew up in Camaguey, Cuba. A graduate of the National School of the Arts (ENA) and the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory in Havana, Mr. Terry has become one of the most respected Cuban musicians of his generation. His band Columna B recieved a grant from the Inroads program at Arts International (via the Ford Foundation) enabling a collaboration between Columna B, U.S.-based composer Wayne Wallace and 2 Havana-based dancers. The work premiered at the Stanford Jazz Workshop & Festival in June 1998. In addition to Columna B and his own Quintet, Terry has performed and recorded with his family’s group Los Terry, Steve Coleman and Mystic Rhythm Society, Jesus Alemany’s Cubanismo, and Jane Bunnett, among others. Since moving to New York in 1999, he has most recently been associated with Eddie Palmieri, Dave Douglas, Brian Lynch and Avishai Cohen’s International Vamp Band.
